Natalie (she/they) started playing piano in 2nd grade and picked up the trombone in 4th grade, following in her mother’s footsteps. Throughout middle and high school in Santa Monica, CA she participated in concert band, marching band, pit orchestra, jazz band, orchestra, and California state honor ensembles. They also played in the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra and toured to Vienna and Prague in 2015. With the Santa Monica High School Band and Orchestra Natalie performed in Argentina, Uruguay, Rome, and a variety of domestic destinations including Seattle and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., as well as concerts with Arturo Sandoval, Rick Springfield, and Terri Nunn of the band Berlin.
At St. Olaf College, Natalie studied with Dr. Art Haecker and Dr. Karl Wiedereohl and played with the St. Olaf Band, Orchestra, Jazz band, Collegium Musicum, and a variety of chamber ensembles. Throughout her undergraduate career she played across the U.S. and performed a solo with the St. Olaf Band in Japan in 2023. They graduated Magna Cum Laude on the Pre-Medicine path and with a Bachelor’s degree in Music in 2023 and hope to attend Medical School next fall. Natalie is currently working as a 911 response EMT in the Minneapolis metro area and also plays with the Minnesota Symphonic Winds under the direction of Dr. Timothy Mahr. When not on an ambulance or playing trombone, Natalie loves to rock climb, go to the movies, and camp with her cat, Malcolm.
